What’s Goin’ On

Saturday at 8 p.m. in Commons Lecture Hall, the Film Arts Committe screens “The Big One,” documentarian Michael More’s hilarious and riveting (and utterly biased) expose of Big Money.

Actors’ Theatre kicked off their season last night with “As Bees in Honey Drown,” which continues tonight and Saturday at 8 p.m. Call 234-3946.

UICA’s “Art and Technology” exhibit hosts a reception tonight from 6-8 p.m. And you can go to the exhibit anytime before October 1.

Patricia Barber, one of the most acclaimed jazz performers of the last decade, hits UICA Saturday night at 8 p.m. (see article, far left).

Or you can dress as a movie character and party down for the campus-wide “A Night in Hollywood” Dance. $2 ($1 if dressed up like Bogart), from 8:30-11:30 p.m. in the Lab Theatre.

Rapist arrested
Suspect expected to plead guilty to 1995 assault

Early in the afternoon of Oct. 8, 1995, Christopher Irving Alexander made his way into the basement of the Timmer residence hall and sexually assaulted an 18-year old freshman female at knifepoint.

On June 28, 1999, Alexander was caught and has since been charged on four cases of sexual assault and rape. Last weekend, he pled guilty... [read full story]
