The Uneasy Sidewalk

A Means to an End

As people insist on being confused and taking offense at this column, the A&E editor has asked me to write this week’s edition, in the hope that this will finally make people aware of what this is: a (evidently failed) joke. I feel so used. On my broad back, "generations have trod, have trod, have trod..." Souls of every persuasion -- fundamentalists, republicans, and liberals alike -- have ridden on my proverbial wings. And don’t think that I’ve just lain here supine; with waking ears and watchful eyes, I keep hip to the social happ’nings of humans everywhere.

Tonight, Friday the 6th, follow me to the FAC to hear "Homeless man: A Tribute to Rich Mullins." at 8:00 for $5. On Saturday the 7th, Swing 78 will be at Four Friends Coffeehouse, performing 7:30 - 8ish. It is free, but donations are welcome. Also on Saturday night, at 8:03, the Film Arts Committee will show yet another quality film. I was in a movie once, but not this one: it’s Ingmar Bergman’s "The Seventh Seal," set in the Middle Ages. I don’t think they had sidewalks then. Tuesday, November 10, Indigo Swing will jump and jive the FAC at 8:00 for $3. I hope you all will dance on me after the show because that would tickle. Thursday the 12th in the BHT basement there’s a root beer kegger celebrating the release of U2’s latest album. Don’t worry about a designated driver; I’ll wait for you outside all night long.
