The flick starts, but believe it or not you have already seen it. Yeah, that’s right! I Know What You Did Last Summer is a remake of Scream. I Know What You Did stars Jennifer Love Hewitt from Party of Five, Freddie Prinze, Jr. who made his debut in To Gillian on her 37th Birthday, Sarah Michelle Gellar from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Ryan Phillippe who has added several upcoming films to his resume, such as Homegrown and Nowhere. In I Know What You Did, the group of fresh-faced actors are friends that swear to keep an “accident” a secret, but something goes wrong. The characters are plagued by a series of threats. The first, a letter with one single sentence: I Know What You Did Last Summer. Although the plots are not identical, some of the scenes are. Most remember Neve Campbell’s scene in Scream involving a second-story window. I Know What You Did has a reenactment of that scene as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character forces herself out a second-story window of a department store to escape her murderer. The movies share the same teen thriller genre with a murderer who kills each victim in the same costume with the same weapon. I Know What You Did has a fisherman with a rain slicker and hook-shaped ice pick, while Scream has the white-masked individual with knife in hand. However, don’t expect this film to be another “psycho” boyfriend flick. The movie occasionally makes you jump and the music is riveting. If you are trying to guess who done it, go see I know What You Did Last Summer. It was a good flick if not for a good thrill for a good laugh at some of the corny lines. Maybe you won’t be scared, but I think you will find a part of the flick you’ll like. It was definitely a fun time.
