Churches stray from original text I’ve noticed an interesting trend in some of the Grand Rapids area churches I’ve had the opportunity to attend recently. It seems that a new fad has developed to encourage parishioners to study the Bible. The trend in question is the growing use of “companion” books. Economy looks up as unemployment drops The U.S. economy showed signs of promise as a Labor Department report last Friday indicated that the unemployment rate fell to six percent in October. According to MSNBC, the report indicated that 126,000 new jobs appeared last month, over twice the 50,000 jobs economists had predicted for October. Analysts hope that the news indicates smoother sailing ahead for the economy. [ read more ]
