Music department hosts Calvin orchestra
The Calvin Music Department will host a concert by the Calvin College Orchestra this Saturday, Nov. 3, at 8:00 p.m. in the FAC Auditorium. This will be the Orchestra's first performance under the baton of Dr. Robert Ritsema. Their program will include Overture to Ruslan and Ludmila by Michael Glinka; Rhosymedre by Ralph Vaughan Williams; Symphony No. 6 in B Minor, Op. 54 by Dmitri Shostakovich; and Les Preludes (Symphonic Poem No. 3) by Franz Liszt.
Tickets on sale for Oratorio's `Messiah'
The Calvin Oratorio Society's performance of Handel's Messiah will take place on Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1, at 8:00 p.m. in DeVos Hall. Dr. Pearl Shangkuan will conduct the 200 plus member chorus, accompanied by the Calvin College Orchestra. Tickets are now on sale at the Calvin College Box Office.
