Scholarship Opportunities
Seven scholarships of $1,000 each are available from Consumers Energy
for a student who meet the following criteria: Candidates must be Michigan residents with a permanent (hometown) address within Consumers Energy's service area (A map showing the areas of service for Consumers Energy can be seen in the Financial Aid Office.) Candidates must be a junior or senior during the 2001-2002 academic
year. Candidates must be majoring in Accounting, Marketing, Business, Computer Science/IS related areas, or Engineering, and be enrolled full-time. Candidates must demonstrate financial need, and be in good academic standing with at least a 3.0 GPA. It is preferred that candidates be willing to participate in a paid summer (2002) internship, if offered. Preference should be given to candidates that are female or a member of an established minority group, i.e. African-American, Hispanic, Native American, etc. Applications for this scholarship are available from the Financial Aid Office and must be returned to the Financial Aid Office by Friday, October 26, 2001.
Plantinga Speech and Dinner
Neal Plantinga, president of Calvin Seminary, will give a speech entitled ``A Minister's Calling in a Troubled World.'' His speech is in conjunction with a dinner that isopen to all Calvin students to be held on October 23 in the Chapel Undercroft at 5:30 p.m. If you plan to attend please RSVP to the Office of Career Services at 957-6485 or career@calvin.edu.
Sportszone
Sportszone, a sports call-in show, airs on CVN (Ch. 4) each Sunday at 9pm. Matt Swedland and Shawn Duffy host the show, bringing students up to date on what is happening in the sports world.
