Thanks for that little column [The Typewriter Monkey] on page 19 of last week's Chimes. I couldn't agree more with Chris. The same thoughts cross my mind every time I see a church sign with a cheesy pun or a bad joke.

I think it is in poor taste and I know for a fact that it does offend people. My boss at work commented on a church sign, telling me that he didn't like Christians because they come off as an exclusive clique, people who think they are better than everybody else. That's a sad commentary, and it tells me that we aren't doing our job as Christians.

How about trying to be more real with people? We don't have to have all the answers, we just have to show people that we love them because God loves us. What if we intentionally showed love to other people, even people we don't know or like? Christ's love speaks louder than any church sign ever could.
