Just because the academic year is coming to a close doesnt mean that activities at Calvin are slowing down. Here is a list of events offered during the next several weeks. All events are free unless otherwise noted:
- Tonight at 7 p.m., speakers for this years Young Authors Festival will be on hand in the Seminary auditorium for An Evening with the Authors. A book signing and refreshments will follow.
- On Saturday, April 28th at 8 p.m., The Calvin Orchestra, directed by John Varineau, will give its spring concert in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium.
- On Saturday, April 28th at 3 p.m., the Calvin College Handbell Choir and Flute Choir will present a concert in the Fine Arts Center. The performance will include musical highlights from the choirs southern California tour, including Under the Sea from Disneys The Little Mermaid, and the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
- On Sunday, April 29th at 6 p.m., the Calvin Band will present its Cathedral Concert, directed by Derald De Young. The concert will take place at La Grave Avenue Christian Reformed Church.
- On Sunday, April 29th at 8 p.m., the Calvin College Alumni Choir will present a concert entitled An American Sampler. The choir, conducted by Dr. Pearl Shangkuan, will sing a wide array of music by some of Americas most beloved composers. Tickets are on sale at the Calvin Box Office. Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
- On Monday, April 30th at 7:30 p.m., the Paul B. Henry Institute for the Study of Christianity and Politics will present the fifth annual Paul B. Henry Lecture. This years speaker is the Honorable Paul Hillegonds, former Speaker of the Michigan House of Rep-resentatives and current President of Detroit Renaissance. The topic of his speech will be Faith in Politics.
- On Tuesday, May 1st at 8 p.m. the Lyric Singers, Meistersingers, and Knollcrest Band of Calvin College will be presenting their spring concert in the Calvin College Fine Arts Center Auditorium.
- On Thursday, May 3rd at 4 p.m., Jonathan Bradford, Executive Director of the Inner City Christian Federation will explain the plans to create an 11 block mixed-income, mixed-use neighborhood in the Wealthy-Jefferson area, which is also known as the Forgotten Neighborhood.
- On Sunday, May 6th at 8 p.m., the Calvin Capella choir will present its European Tour concert at La Grave Avenue Christian Reformed Church.
- On Tuesday, May 8th at 8 p.m., the Meistersingers will present their outdoor Evening Musicale on the De Wit Manor Lawn. Bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating.Things to do at Calvin
