Biology professor Ubels receives funding
Biology professor John Ubels recently received a $375,000 grant from the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health. Ubels is currently researching dry-eye syndrome and is part of a larger group working towards a cure for the debilitating disease.
Calvin awarded first-ever patent
1997 Calvin grads Rachel teBrake, Alison Stahl, and Stacey Waldo were honored in May for the patent they earned as a result of their Senior Engineering Project. Patent number 5,984,416 was given to their invention of armrests with memory and is the schools first-ever patent.
New Broene Center director named
Calvin College recently hired Dr. Randall Wolthuis to be the new director of the Broene Counseling Center. Wolthuis is a licensed psychologist, marriage counselor, and social worker. |
