came into place and were approved by the Faculty Senate
on Tuesday....

Results were undecided as of 7 p.m. Thursday, in the closest
election in 40 years. Texas Gov. George W. Bush nabbed Florida,
with the exception of oversea ballots, and is predicted
to win the presidency. But as of Thursday afternoon, Vice
President Al Gore still scored one percent better in the
national popular vote than Bush (49 percent to 48 percent)...

A recent series of unsolved thefts on campus has Calvin
faculty and staff members locking their doors and watching
their wallets a little more carefully. Wallets have been
taken from unlocked offices and credit cards have been
stolen, leaving victims with potentially staggering bills.
Religion department professor Kendra Hotz was one of
the victims. On October 13 around noontime, somebody went
into Hotzs unlocked but closed office and took her
wallet out of her purse. The thief then proceeded to use
her credit card at gas stations, restaurants, and retail
stores...
