A recent series of unsolved thefts on campus has Calvin faculty and staff members locking their doors and watching their wallets a little more carefully. Wallets have been taken from unlocked offices and credit cards have been stolen, leaving victims with potentially staggering bills.

Religion department professor Kendra Hotz was one of the victims. On October 13 around noontime, somebody went into Hotz’s unlocked but closed office and took her wallet out of her purse. The thief then proceeded to use her credit card at gas stations, restaurants, and retail stores...
